Assassin's Creed Reveals Surprising AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a unexpected collaboration that defies traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Disclosed
According to the official release, "A strange confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of prohibited rituals and monstrous changes reverberate through the obscurity." The storyline presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a hidden sect.
The adventure focuses on "strange trials and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Metamorphoses
The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a powerful sequence showing a character, probably the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Bonus Features
Players who finish the mission will acquire an unique katana alongside several objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Newest Free Story Content
This patch also adds the game's third free story content, titled "The Mystery." This playful adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe introduces a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Crossovers
This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime properties. The series formerly included a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that obviously nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
