The New Mayor Pledges a 'Dawn' for The Big Apple in Inaugural Speech
On his initial day in his new role, Zohran Mamdani pledged to “transform” the metropolis, ushering in “a new era” and an ambitious commencement to his administration.
A Groundbreaking Mayor
The 34-year-old figure, who just a year ago remained a virtually unknown state assemblyman, now stands as the city's first mayor of South Asian descent. He additionally marked a milestone by being the first to be sworn in using the Islamic holy text.
